Scalloped Princess Dress Pattern

I am so excited to be a part of a blog tour for Little Kiwis Closet who make fantastic PDF patterns for babies and kids.

The pattern that is being featured in this blog tour is the Scalloped Princess Dress which can be purchased on craftsy, even better is the special reduced price which is only valid for remainder of the blog tour (last day is the  6th July).

Let me tell you about how I came about wanting to try this pattern myself. My daughter had a Frozen dress up birthday party to attend and she wanted to be Elsa. I had months worth of notice and ordered a dress online which sadly did not make it to me. I had a few days left and knew I would end up making a dress myself as I did not want to disappoint my daughter. One of the testers created a lovely Elsa dress from this very pattern and I knew any of the patterns from Little Kiwis Closet are easy to sew up with amazing finishes so I knew this was THE pattern to use. It took me one whole day to sew (til the early hours mind you) and was worth it, I never thought I could ever create anything like this but here it is and I am so proud of the outcome.

The skirt is nice and twirly which is a winning feature in my household  :)

And of course what is an Elsa without a cape?

My daughter's reaction to the dress the next morning was priceless, she was so happy that she ran and put it on straight away, she kept it on all day, wore it to the party, wore it for the rest of the night and only got out of it to get change into pj's before bed. My daughter has a series of dress up princess dresses from the stores and she has never spent more than half an hour in any one of them at a time. More than anything she is just so proud of me that I was able to create something like this for her, something that makes me smile.

The Scalloped Princess Dress is a multitude of dresses all in the one pattern as it features 4 Necklines, 2 Bodice Styles (princess and scalloped), 3 skirt styles (knee length, long and high/low hem) and 3 Hem styles (Accent Facing Hidden Facing Simple Hem) to choose from. Even better than that is that you can make pretty much any Disney Princess inspired dress from this one pattern.
This pattern is recommended for advanced beginners and goes from size 12 months to 9 years, a much better size range than those found in stores.

I will definitely be  making this dress again and it will be my go to dress for any future dress up character dresses, especially anything to do with princesses  :)
